Indian Embassy and District Development Committee, Manang and Tilicho Khangsar Sewa Samiti signed an agreement for providing Indian grant assistance of NRs. 26.68 million for the renovation of Tashop (Tare) Gompa and construction of quarters for the Rimpoche and Lamas under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme.  This is the first Small Development Project being undertaken with Indian assistance in Manang District

 According to Indian Embassy, Tashop (Tare) Gompa is a historic structure having great socio-cultural relevance in the life of the people of the Manang District. The structure of the Gompa is dilapidated and needs renovation. The inmates at the Gompa are also facing problems with regard to their accommodation and pursuit of religious education.  The renovation of the Gompa and construction of quarters being carried out with Indian assistance would considerably upgrade these facilities.

 The project will be implemented by the District Development Committee, Manang in accordance with the existing norms and regulations of the Government of Nepal. They will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of construction of the project and its timely completion. The MoU stipulates the constitution of an Oversight Committee, comprising representatives of the DDC and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring the implementation of the project in a time bound manner.

 Indian government has also provided recently an ambulance to the Manang VDC for providing better health care services to the people of the district.
