Embassy of India in Kathmandu and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation in association with Initiatives of Media Women (IMW) organized the 14th edition of Poemandu.
This edition of Poemandu brought together both eminent and aspiring women poets of Nepal to recite their poems that focused on various issues of women. The poems recited at the function shed light on different forms of violence that women in our society are facing. From domestic violence to gender inequality and from physical abuses to psychological tortures, the women poets of Nepal left no stone unturned to raise every such issue through their powerful recitations one after the other.
The poets who recited in this edition of Poemandu were Dr. Benju Sharma, Usha Sherchan, Shakuntala Joshi, Prabha Bhattarai, Harimaya Bhetuwal, Pratima Bibash Rai, Anupam Joshi, Shamita Shrestha, Manisha Gauchan, Usha Hamal, Sabita Bimali, Ekaterina Kumar, Kanchana Jha, Momila Joshi, Bunu Lamichhane, Usha Sherchan and Manju Kachuli.
Head of Press, Information and Culture at Indian Embassy and Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation Abhay Kumar thanked all the poets for reciting their powerful poems in Poemandu and said, “There is no universe without women. They are the force that drives the life. It’s our pleasure to dedicate this edition of Poemandu entirely for women poets.”
