Embassy of Israel organized ninth Israeli Film Festival in Kathmandu and Pokhara with wide response from public.
The Embassy of Israel in Nepal has been conducting Israeli film festivals in Nepal as a part of its annual cultural activities. These films have become a medium to represent Israel, its people- their languages- its culture- values and traditions, to its audiences in Nepal.
Israel, though small in size, Israeli society is rich and vivid and so is the Israeli film industry. It has undergone major developments since its inception in 1950s. Israel’s unique cultural, political, religious, and historical landscape provides an exceptionally fertile resource for the country’s film industry – an industry that is gaining increasing international respect for the quality production. Israel has been nominated for many Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. In the first decade of the 21st century, several Israeli films won awards in film festivals around the world.
The films that were screened in Pokhara and Kathmandu were selected very carefully so as to provide a variety of choices to the audiences. The Embassy has selected some heart touching, near to reality films, which the Embassy is sure, the audiences would love. However, only three best films will be screened this year.
According to a press release issued by Embassy of Israel, the three Israeli film will be screened to Pokhara on 27 June 2014 at Pokhara Chamber of Commerce and Industry, GairaPatan, Pokhara.
