Thirty-one Peace Corps Volunteers arrived in Kathmandu and were greeted at the airport by Ambassador Peter W. Bodde, Peace Corps/Nepal Country Director Nelson Chase and all Peace Corps/Nepal staff.  The new Volunteers join the ranks of the more than 4,200 Volunteers that have served before them here in Nepal, and the more than 7,200 other Peace Corps Volunteers currently serving in 65 other countries.

In greeting the Volunteers, Ambassador Bodde noted that Peace Corps Volunteers have played a special role in the development history of Nepal, adding that many Nepali friends and colleagues had shared life-changing stories with him about Peace Corps Volunteers and their work.

According to a press release issued by, Public Affairs Section U.S. Embassy, Kathmandu, Nepal The thirty-one Peace Corps Volunteers will undergo eleven weeks of training in the Kavre District.  After training, the Volunteers will be assigned to districts in the Western, Mid-Western, and Far Western regions to work on food security, sanitation, and health projects.
