Indian assistance to school building in Jhapa and Udayapur

Indian Assistance of NRs. 36.15 million Construction of school building for Shree Janata Higher Secondary School, Jogidaha VDC in Udayapur District

An MoU was signed between Embassy of India, Kathmandu, District Development Committee, Udaypur and Shree Janata Higher Secondary School, Jogidaha VDC in Udayapur District on 17 October 2014 for construction of school building for Shree Janata Higher Secondary School, Jogidaha VDC in Udayapur District.

The project is being implemented by the District Development Committee, Udaypur at a cost of NRs. 36.15 million. Government of India is providing assistance for construction of school building for Shree Janata Higher Secondary School, Jogidaha VDC in Udayapur District in Nepal as part of the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Programme.

Established in 1959 as a Primary School and subsequently upgraded to Higher Secondary level in 2008, Shree Janata Higher Secondary School is situated at Jogidaha VDC in Udayapur District, Eastern Development Region of Nepal. The catchment area of the school is 15 VDCs of Udayapur District. The existing infrastructure of the school building is dilapidated and is also insufficient to comfortably accommodate all the students. The total numbers of students of the school are over 1200, about 50% of whom are girls. The new infrastructure would provide much needed classroom space and would create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the development of the education in the area. The project would also lead to generation of immense goodwill towards India.

In addition to this project, work is ongoing on for 01 more project at a cost of NRs.29.9 Million and 05 projects have already completed with the assistance of Government of India at a cost of NRs.51.6 Million in Udaypur District.  India has also provided 08 ambulances to Udaypur District.

Similarly, Indian Assistance of NRs. 42.14 million Construction of school building for Shree Araniko Higher Secondary School, Maheshpur, Jhapa

Indian Embassy and District Development Committee, Jhapa and Shree Araniko Higher Secondary School, Maheshpur signed an MoU for construction of school building for Shree Araniko Higher Secondary School, Maheshpur in Jhapa District.

The project is being implemented by the District Development Committee, Jhapa at a cost of NRs. 42.14 million. Government of India is providing assistance for construction of school building for Shree Araniko Higher Secondary School, Maheshpur in Jhapa District in Nepal as part of the India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program.

The catchment area of the school is also spread Taplejung and Panchthar Districts. The existing infrastructure of the school building is dilapidated and is also insufficient to comfortably accommodate all the students. The total numbers of students of the school are over 800, about 50% of whom are girls. The new infrastructure would provide much needed classroom space and would create an improved environment for learning and contribute to the development of the education in the area.

In addition to this project, work is ongoing for 08 more projects at a cost of NRs.245.40 Million and 11 No. of projects have already completed with the assistance of Government of India at a cost NRs.268.5 Million in Jhapa District.  India has also provided 10 ambulances to Jhapa District.
