Ncell has become the biggest taxpayer company in the country, surpassing state-run Nepal Telecom in revenue collection figures for Fiscal Year 2012/13.
The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) felicitated Ncell on Monday for paying the largest amount of tax to the government. Ncell posted Rs 4 billion in income tax to the government, relegating the previous largest tax payer state-run telecommunications giant Nepal Telecom, to second position.
Director General of IRD, Chudamani Sharma, informed that Ncell has posted Rs 4 billion in tax payment, way above NTC, in Fiscal Year 2012/13. However, NTC has stood as the largest taxpayer in the Value Added Tax (VAT) category.
Tax officials said the tax amounts paid by taxpayers have not been disclosed as it involves their right to privacy.
