A Jet Airways plane arriving from Delhi to Kathmandu caught minor fire at its left wing due to bird-strike while landing at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Monday.
According to DIG Bijaya Lal Kayastha, security official at TIA , the 168-seater B737-800 Jet Airways plane caught fire after a bird hit its left side wing before it made an successful emergency landing. All the passengers are safe.
TIA General Manager Birendra Shrestha told media that the aircraft of flight number 9W268 was hit by a bird near Imadole of Lalitpur. "The bird entered the left engine causing fire," he said.
The flight was carrying 132 persons including 125 passengers and seven crew members. The Boeing 737 was flying from Indian Capital New Delhi to Kathmandu. The Airways' Kathmandu-based reservation and ticketing agent Hansha International Private Limited also confirmed the incident reports THT online.
