The District Police Office, Solukhumbu, Tuesday stopped a group of 45 monks from the Tibet Autonomous Region of China, who were travelling to Kathmandu from Junbeshi in Solukhmbu district.

The police prevented them at Dudhkunda Municipality of Solukhumbu district, after noticing the Tibetean monks without any identity card and permission letter.

The monks said they had been residing at the Thupten Choling Monastery at Junbesi at Solukhumbu for some years and were going to visit Boudha Stupa at Boudha, Kathmandu.

According to Jhankanath Dhakal, the Chief District Officer (CDO) at Solukhumbu district, those monks were prevented to travel ouside the district as they had not obtained permission.

The monks were also prevented to travel outside of the district in view of their possible involvement in suspisciouss activites without authentication of their outgoing, the CDO added.

The stranded monks will soon be sent back to their temporary residence, the monastry at Junbeshi, informed the police reports RSS.
