Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized 22nd edition of Cinemandu on Friday, June 9, 2015 at Nepal Bharat-Library, Nepal Airlines Building in New Road Gate.

This edition of Cinemandu screened acclaimed Nepalese feature film Utsav. Written and directed by Kumar Bhattarai, Utsav is Bhattarai’s first directorial debut. He is also the scriptwriter of critically acclaimed Nepalese films Daasdhunga and Uma.

Along with director Bhattarai, actors Sauguat Malla and Sanjog Koirala also joined the screening of Utsav.

The movie based on the aspirations of today’s youth, and the transition they go through on the path of their career, the social odds and the family issues, was well received by the audience in Cinemandu.

According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, the cast and crew of the film engaged themselves in interaction with the audience after the screening of the film.

Director/writer Kumar Bhattarai shared, “This is my first directorial debut and I know there are many loopholes in them. I want the Nepalese audience to come to the multiplexes during the screening and let me know where I am going wrong. I will work them out in my future cinematic endeavors.”

Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Abhay Kumar presented the token of appreciation to the cast and crew and shared, “Cinemandu is a unique platform where we not only organize the screening of selected Nepalese films but also allow an opportunity for the audience to directly interact with Nepali artists and filmmakers. We thank all our audience for believing in the spirit of our initiative.”
