The indigenous Tamang communities across the nation are celebrating Sonam Lhosar with zest and zeal on Wednesday.

The festival is being observed throughout the country by organizing various programs.

Sonam Lhosar is the New Year of the Tamang communities and is celebrated on the first day of new moon.

During the festival, Tamangs visit Buddhist shrines while elders offer blessings to their younger kin and exchange greetings with friends, relatives and well-wishers.

Tamang community is organizing  a special program at Tundikhel in the Capital to celebrate the festival today. The government has declared a public holiday today to mark the festival
