India has given Rs 37.12 million in financial assistance to Nepal for road upgradation work.

The 2.2 km-long road from Ghorbanda along Butwal-Pokhara highway to Chilangdi Bhanjyang at Chirtungdhara in Palpa district is expected to benefit Ex-Servicemen and the local population through quality road network.

A Memorandum of Understanding was signed yesterday between Embassy of India, Kathmandu and Department of Roads, Palpa for the upgradation work.

Construction of the road will connect Butwal-Pokhara Highway to the District Soldier Board (DSB), Palpa, according to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy here.

The Ex-Servicemen (ESMs) of Indian Army residing in the jurisdiction of DSB, Palpa are facing difficulties to reach DSB premises to get benefits of welfare schemes of the Indian government.

This road will not only help the pensioners, but also benefit old-aged, handicapped and civil families residing in the adjoining seven Village Development Committees of Palpa district, the release said.
