UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that President Dr Ram Baran Yadav inquired about the talks and consensus among political parties during the meeting held between him and the President Friday morning.
Talking to media persons at Biratnagar Airport today, Dahal said the President expressed worry over different issues including about the constitution making process.
Chairman Dahal on the occasion said that some leaders of the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML were scared of consensus, saying the talks could only take place after the ruling parties express commitment to promulgating the new constitution as per the spirit of the Comprehensive Peace Accord and other movements and through a consensus.
Dahal further said that leaders of the NC and UML tried to escape from consensus after seeing the possibility of a consensus. "We were ready to hold discussion on a six to nine province model and there was no dispute over form of governance".
He also made it clear that there was a need of discussion regarding the proposal presented by Bijay Kumar Gachchhadar, which, he said, was presented by Gachchhadar all of sudden without holding discussions in the alliance reports RSS.
