The European Parliament Delegation for relations with the countries of South Asia arrives in Kathmandu on a four-day visit.
Four members of the Delegation for Relations with the Countries of South Asia of the European Parliament (EP) will be in Nepal on a four-day visit starting on 8 April, 2015. The group is composed of Jean Lambert (UK), Chairperson of the above-mentioned Delegation, Cristian Dan Preda (Romania), Afzal Khan (UK) and Thomas Mann (Germany).
"We are very pleased to be here and participate in meetings with a broad range of actors and take stock of the current situation in Nepal, including the negotiations towards an inclusive and democratic constitution" Lambert said.
According to a press release issued by Delegation of the European Union to Nepal, in the course of their visit, the Members of the European Parliament will call on President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav, Prime Minister Sushil Koirala, Chairman of the Constituent Assembly, Subash Nemwang, Foreign Minister, Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Chairman of the CPN (UML) K.P. Sharma Oli and Chairman of the main opposition UCPN-Maoist, Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
The Members of the European Parliament will also be holding meetings with other political leaders, members of civil society and the international community to learn more about the current political, social and economic situation in Nepal. In this context, they will be visiting projects supported by the European Union to assess their impact on the development of the country.
