At a time when even the government is still coping with rescue and relief campaigns, Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI) has come up with a comprehensive Post-Earthquake Economic Recovery Plan.

Addressing a press conference, CNI Chair Narendra Kumar Basnyat said that along with food, cloth and shelter for the earthquake victims, we also need to come out with a comprehensive long term program for economic recovery.

“With short term and long terms program, we need to initiate reconstruction campaign.  Under its social corporate responsibility, CNI has also involved in distributing relief materials to the victims of earthquake,” said Basnyat.

“Without economic activities, it is impossible for the economic growth. The government has to announce the programs to activate the economy,” said Basnyat. “We have recently handed over our suggestions on economic recovery and impacts of earthquake in industrial sector,” Basnyat.

“The aim of press meet is to discuss Post-earthquake Economic Recovery Plan and the plan of action moving forward from this disaster that has deeply affected our nation and working forward towards economic recovery,” said senior vice president Hari Bhakta Sharma. “Big industries procure heavy loss, we are yet to assess exact loss.

As Nepal is not first country to face this kind of situation, CNI also presented the program consultations with the countries having faced similar disasters.  “We have presented a recovery plan titled Destruction to Development, Building People and Communities while constructing shelter, settlements and infrastructures,” said vice president Bishnu Agrawal.
