In view of the recent earthquakes in Nepal, The Government of India has decided to donate 50 Tons of Galvanized Corrugated Sheets of Steel (G. C. Sheets) to Nepal for rehabilitation and reconstruction purposes. The value of this consignment is about 4.5 million Nepali Rupees. The G.C. Sheets have been manufactured by Steel Authority of India Limited, a Government of India Enterprise.
According to a press Indian Embassy, galvanized Corrugated Sheets of Steel are used for the purpose for building temporary shelters. These are priority goods for the earthquake affected areas in Nepal especially in view of the ongoing monsoon season. The G. C. Sheets would be used for providing temporary shelters to a large number of affected families in Nepal.
Ranjit Rae, Ambassador of India to Nepal handed over the documents related to import of Corrugated Sheets of Steel to the Home Secretary, Government of Nepal at Singha Durbar in a meeting on 10th July 2015. The G. C. Sheets will be transferred to the Government of Nepal godown for storage and distribution.
