WFP provides assistance to over one million people since early June. Among them, 93,000 benefitted from cash for assets program, while food (rice, pulses and oil) was distributed to 966,000 people.
According to a press release issued by WFP, the women of Bigu, Dolakha district, who make a living as porters for WFP’s Remote Access Operation, also receive assistance sending their children to school.
The Remote Access Operation has provided employment to over 14,000 people, who carry humanitarian cargo to 100,000 inhabitants of the hardest to reach earthquake-affected areas
WFP carried out a monitoring of people reached through food and cash support during the last two months. Those receiving cash said they used it to buy food, rehabilitate the family house, saving and paying for school fees, in that order. Ninety-six percent of food recipients were satisfied with its quality.
