Finance Minister Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat launched a book Micro Economics, A Radical Rethinking in Growth, Inequality and Inclusiveness in Nepal. Edited by Professor Dr. Bishwamber Pyakuryal, the book consists of the article contributed by Nepal’s prominent economists.

Launching the book, finance minister Dr. Mahat said that the ministry will take the suggestions given in the book by economists. “Despite the lacunas and weaknesses, Nepal has made a tangible progress in economic sector in the last two decades,” said Dr. Mahat.

“As the authors pointed out, there are problems in Nepalese economy. However, Nepal can settle them on its own. Our revenue mobilization is highest in Nepal and Nepal achieves higher social progress in the region,” said finance minister Dr. Mahat. “Nepal has enough resources on its own.”

Highlighting the book, Professor Dr. Pyakuryal said Nepal needs to go for structural changes to meet the new challenges faced by Nepalese economy. “This is first kinds of its book published recently in Nepal which covered entire economic indicators which has negative as well as positive implications to Nepalese economy. The economists who contributed in this book are highly experienced and they have shown what is required to make high economic growth in Future this book is written with the support from Adam Smith Institute and DFID,” said Professor Pyakuryal.

Along with Professor Pyakuryal, economist Prithvi Raj Ligal, Professor Madan Kumar Dahal, Shanker Sharma, Post Raj Pandey, Binok K. Karmacharya, Devendra Prasad Shrestha and Purushottam Ojha contributed on the topics like macroeconomic challenges, fiscal reform for sustainable growth, investment  for Employment Growth, External sectors for sustained high growth, Partial and total Factor productivity in Nepal, Improving Social Sectors for Sustaining broad based inclusive growth and Energy sector and oil sector reform.
