India provides financial assistance of Nepalese Rs 44.4 million for construction of Jana Prakash Higher Secondary School, Kolti, Bajura District.
Memoranda of Understanding was signed between Indian Embassy and Shree Jana Prakash Higher Secondary School, Kolti, Bajura District as part of India–Nepal Cooperation program of the Government of India for construction of school. This will be the first educational project supported by the Government of India in the district.
According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, the Construction project of school building and separate hostel blocks for boys and girls for Shree Jana Prakash Higher Secondary School is to be executed by DDC Bajura with the Government of India financial assistance of NRs 44.4 million. The 11 VDCs of this district and some parts of the neighboring districts such as Humla, Mugu, and Kalikot are its catchment areas. The present infrastructure of the school is dilapidated.
The new building would provide much needed classroom space and would create an improved environment for learning. An ambulance was gifted to this district in 2010 by Government of India.
In addition, the Government of India has extended financial assistance of approx. NRs 300 million towards renovation, restoration, up-gradation of various sites of religious, educational, cultural and historical importance in Nepal.
The India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program has an outlay of over NRs 76 billion with more than 514 large and small development projects completed or being implemented in almost all the districts of Nepal. These development projects, mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development, have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
