Japan provides Assistance for The Project for Provision of Ambulances in Provincial Cities.
The Government of Japan has decided to extend financial assistance of US Dollars 90,440.00, equivalent to approximately Nepalese Rupees 9,550,464, to the Nepal Red Cross Society. This financial assistance is extended under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme of the Government of Japan in Japan's Fiscal Year 2015.
A Grant Contract relating to this project is scheduled to be signed and exchanged on 26th November at the Embassy of Japan in Nepal between Masashi Ogawa Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Dev Ratna Dhakhwa, Secretary General of the Nepal Red Cross Society.
According to a press release issued by Japanese Embassy, the Nepal Red Cross Society has been providing health services to local people in cooperation with the Nepal Government and local medical institutions. The Nepal Red Cross Society has 167 ambulance service stations and provides ambulance services for patients and the transportation of blood, particularly as there are a lot of areas which still lack access to hospitals.
The Government of Japan will support to provide, through this Assistance, one ambulance each to four Chapters of the Nepal Red Cross Society, namely, Morang, Gulmi and Pyuthan District Chapters and Udayapur District Katari Sub-chapter. Ambulances are in high demand in these areas. It is expected these ambulances will improve people’s access to hospitals where they will receive the necessary emergency treatments.
