UN under Secretary General for Political Affairs, Jeffrey Feltman called on Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri on Nepal Army Headquarter. According to a press release issued by Nepal Army, Under Secretary Feltman and COAS General Chhetri discussed the matter of mutual understanding.
During his recent visit to Nepal, UN under Secretary General Faltman also met Prime Minister K.P. Shrama Oli and the leaders of United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF), and other agitating forces in the Tarai expressing dis-satisfaction towards the new constitution, to seek a solution to the problem through talks.
During his meeting with top leaders of the agitating forces in the capital, the UN official urged them to continue to hold dialogue with the government and seek a way out to the agitation within from the talks table.
Laxman Lal Karna chairperson of Nepal Sadbhawana Party said, during the meeting UN Official Faltman was concerned about the on-going Madhes problems and UDMF demands.
The UDMF leaders told the UN representatives that government has been using excessive force to suppress the agitation.
The UN Under-Secretary General for Political Affairs arrived here Thursday to take stock of country’s political developments following the promulgation of new constitution.
