Foreign Minister A.H. Mahmood Ali, MP, paid a brief visit to Nepal to pay last respects to former Prime Minister Koirala who passed away in the early hours yesterday.
According to a press release issued by Embassy of Bangladesh, during his stay in Kathmandu, Mahmood Ali conveyed the deep condolences on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh for the sudden and shocking demise of the former Prime Minister who had been honoured as a “Friend of Bangladesh” in 2012 for his courageous support to the people of Bangladesh during the glorious War of Liberation in 1971.
Foreign Minister Mahmood Ali also held a brief meeting with Kamal Thapa, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Nepal. During their interaction they expressed satisfaction at the existing excellent relations between Bangladesh and Nepal and expressed keen desire to further promote and strengthen this relationship for mutual benefit.
