Ambassador Alaina B. Teplitz and the U.S. Embassy community hung rainbow banners to show their support for the LGBT community during Pride Month 2016 and celebrate the great diversity of the American people on Wednesday June 8. June is LGBT Pride Month in commemoration of the Stonewall riots, which occurred at the end of June 1969.
According to Public Affairs Section, Embassy of The United States, pride Month recognizes the history of the LGBT movement, while acknowledging the work that remains to be done, and celebrating the progress we have made in creating a more inclusive and accepting world.
