The 2nd International Day of Yoga, 2016 was celebrated on 21st June, 2016 at Darbar Marg, Kathmandu.  The function was presided over by Prime Minister of Nepal, K. P. Sharma Oli.  Patanjali Yogapeeth demonstrated yoga practices based on the Common Yoga Protocol.

The Program included release of Yoga Souvenir published by the Indian Embassy by  Prime Minister Shri Oli and Indian Ambassador Ranjit Rae.  This was followed by reading out of the message of  Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi by Ambassador  Rae.

According to a press release issued by Indian Embassy, on 22nd June, 2016, Indian Embassy celebrated the Yoga Day at its premises.  The Program was attended by over 800 persons, covering different walks of life-students, yoga enthusiasts, socio-cultural personalities and media.  At the Program, the video messages of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj were shown.  This was followed by video demonstration and practices of the Common Yoga Protocol.  Ambassador gave away prizes to the six winners of the Embassy’s essay and drawing competitions.  The prizes included cash and certificate, won by school students from Kathmandu and Biratnagar.

 All present enthusiastically participated in this Yoga Day Celebrations.   The program also saw display of photographs on Yoga shot by noted Indian Photographer Benoy Behl.  Embassy thanks all Yoga and socio-cultural organizations for making the 2nd International Day of Yoga successful and hopes that practice of Yoga will further spread across various sections of society for wellness and harmony.
