A Nepalese graduate student in Seoul National University, Jaya Narayan Acharya was honored with the ‘Award of Excellence’ for his Outstanding Academic Achievement and Excellent Thesis for his graduation in the university course Masters in Public Administration of 2016 Fall. Dr. Dongwook Kim, the dean of the Graduate School of Public Administration, Seoul National University awarded Acharya with the award on 29 August 2016 amid the award ceremony in the university.
Acharya was the Joint Secretary of the National Planning Commission, the Government of Nepal. He went to Seoul National University in Korea through the Global Masters’ Program fellowship provided by Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). Joint Secretary Acharya is also perceived with industrious, innovative and sustainable attitude towards his work among the ministries and government agencies in Nepal.
KOICA’s Fellowship Program supports the Human Resources Development of partner countries and plays a critical role in narrowing the knowledge gap between developed and developing countries. Since 1991, KOICA has been supporting for the capacity development of the government officers through various long and short term programs. Every year KOICA sends more than 100 government officers in the short term fellowship program in various sectors like health education and ICT, rural development and etc.
Similarly, this year 15 government officer have been selected for KOICA’s Master’s Degree Fellowship program and are currently pursuing their Master’s level studies in various renowned Korean Universities like Seoul National University, KAIST, KDI, KyungHee, Hanyang and many more.
