Assistant Secretary Nisha Biswal Concludes Nepal Visit

Kathmandu – Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Nisha Biswal concluded a two-day visit to Nepal today.

In meetings with political, business, and civic leaders, Assistant Secretary Biswal  discussed the challenges and opportunities facing Nepal ranging from transitional justice to elections.

 “She met with Prime Minister Dahal and other government officials to encourage continued cooperation between the United States and Nepal.  She also looked at earthquake reconstruction progress, talked about economic opportunities and discussed other areas where the United States can potentially assist,” said a press release issued by U.S. Embassy.

“The United States Government continues to work closely with the people and government of Nepal in order to support democratic systems and structures that improve inclusiveness, strengthen the business environment, and focus on development and reconstruction efforts,” said Biswal.

The United States continues to engage with Nepal to support its democracy, prosperity and stability.
