With the completion of the project, Nepalese consumers who are celebrating Dashain and Tihar Festival next week have reason to rejoice as the newly built Upper Marsyangdi A project will supply additional 50 MW power in the national grid, reducing the chronic load shedding hours in the festive season.
As most of the projects under Nepal Electricity Authority are facing one or other kinds of problems, Chinese Multinational Sino-Hydro and Nepal’s Sagarmatha Hydropower have shown that nothing is impossible given the commitment and will to do something.
The project, started three and half years ago, was inaugurated after its completion by MP Dr. Bhishm Kant Adhikari in Bhulbhule, Lamjung. With two 25 MW turbine each, the project will produce 50 MW. However, it will supply 25 MW for the first few months.
Along with the completion of the project, the company also built 19 kilometer single circuit 132 KV Transmission line from Bhulbhule to Upper Marsyangdi, Chinese energy company Sino-Hydro and Nepalese company Sagarmatha Hydropower have shown a way to connect the electricity.
Although a number of hydropower projects are in the process of completion, they are unable to supply the electricity due to transmission line. At a time when a majority of hydropower projects are facing problems of power evacuation, this is a good lesson.
