Despite the unending political disputes and prolonged course of political instability, Nepalese are already in their festive mood. The season of joy is here for them. After a long hardship of working in the field, this season gives the farmers some rest. This is the time for all Nepalese to gather in their homes and meet their families. Dismal politics aside, there is good news as well. With the completion of 50 MW power by Upper Marsyangdi A, a joint venture of Chinese multi-national Sino Hydro and Nepalese private parties, power-starved Nepal has a good occasion to rejoice. However, major road accidents in the recent days have made people sad. The question of road safety is getting serious. Former home minister and chief secretary Madhav Ghimire, with others, went missing from the accident site in Trishuli where three of his relatives were found dead. The next day's bus accident with twenty casualties was another shock for Nepal. For this issue, however, we have decided to cover the development activities supported by the Asian Development Bank and their implications for the livelihood of the people as our main story. As Nepalese are celebrating the Dashain, New Spotlight family wishes a Happy Dashain to all its customers, patrons and readers.
