NIC ASIA has begun Tree Plantation as its Corporate Social Responsibility project as declared by Bank’s Chairman, Jagdish Prasad Agrawal in his speech during nineteenth Annual General Meeting.

As declared in the Chairman’s speech, the Bank has taken up a CSR project to plant more than 7 thousand plants this fiscal year. Coinciding with inauguration of National Sports 2073 the Tree plantation program was inaugurated today amidst a function today by planting 200 saplings symbolic to mark the occasion by dignitaries and members of sports council present in the function. As the plantation season will kick off only in June, remaining saplings will be planted in due time, stated NIC ASIA’s Biratnagar Cluster Head, Santosh Rathi during the function.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) has been signed between District Sports Council, Morang and NIC ASIA whereby the District Sports council has provided specific area for tree plantation within the boundaries of cricket stadium in Baijanathpur VDC at Morang. As per the arrangement, the Bank will plant 1500 saplings in the area allocated and maintain the plants for next two years whereas the District Sports Council will ensure fencing and security required to safeguard the plants.

NIC ASIA is seeking suitable partners to execute its CSR project to contribute to environment and greenery in the community. Organizations and sites like schools, colleges, hospitals, government offices and any other well fenced and protected sites across the country in the vicinity of its branch networks has been identified so that partnership for the noble cause with such organizations and communities can be arranged.

“NIC ASIA believes through such CSR initiatives of planting trees to the scale referred the Bank is making a noble contribution in environment balance, greenery and greater wellbeing of the community,” said a press release issued by NIC ASIA.
