Shailendra Guragain was elected as president of Independent Power Producers Nepal (IPPAN).The 15th annual general meeting of the IPPAN elected a new executive committee and Guragain as president unopposed.

Guragain was vice president in the outgoing executive committee. The AGM also requested Nepal Electricity Authority to replace the existing ‘take AND pay’ provision with a ‘take OR pay’ one in power purchase agreements.

The body also urged Ministry of Energy to implement the National Energy Crisis Prevention and Electricity Development Decade 2016/26 Plan.

"Our focus is to implement ten years plan and the direction taken by the Power Summit 2016 to generate 10,000 MW electricity in ten years," Guragain told the AGM participants.

Other members include Kumar Pandey vice president,Tuk Prasad Paudel general secretary, Anand Chaudhary treasurer, Ashish Garga, Ganesh Karki, Him Prasad Pathak, Narendra Prajapati, Pratik Man Singh Pradhan, Sudhir Prasad Timalsina and Immediate Past President Khadga Bahadur Bisht are members.
