As part of the on-going mega-Cultural event ‘Days of North-East Cultural Festival – Namaste Nepal’, the cultural troupes viz (i)  Lily Veng Cultural & Drama Club, Mizoram, India and  (ii) Thoibi Manipuri Dance & Cultural Research Institute, Manipur, India performed separately at Janakpur and Birgunj.

The Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Jiwan Bahadur Shahi inaugurated the cultural event at Janakpur in the presence of B.C. Pradhan, Consul General of India, Birgunj while Minister for General Administration Keshab Kumar Budhathoki inaugurated the event at Biratnagar in the presence of Mr. S. Gopal Krishnan, First Secretary, Embassy of India and P.K. Chaliya, Head of Office, Embassy of Camp Office, Biratnagar.

 Additionally, another cultural troupe from Nagaland viz Tetseo Sisters presented diverse cultures of Nagaland at India House to resident diplomatic corps, academicians, social personalities  and lawmakers

“Local cultural artists from Janakpur and Biratnagar also performed alongside with the Indian cultural troupes. Performing at a single platform provided opportunities to these cultural troupes to share and exchange their respective cultural diversities. Such events would go a long way in furthering our age-old cultural relations and deepen our people to people contacts,” said a press release issued by Indian Embassy.

The on-going two weeks mega cultural event was presented by the Indian Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Kathmandu and is jointly organized by the North Eastern Council, Shillong, India and the ICCR-Shillong, India. Troupes from India are sponsored by the Indian Council for Cultural Relations, New Delhi.
