British Embassy Statement on Local Elections

The United Kingdom calls on all stakeholders to create the necessary conditions to allow the people of Provinces 1, 5 and 7 to exercise their right to vote, peacefully, in Nepal‘s second round of local elections on 28 June.

The United Kingdom calls on all stakeholders to create the necessary conditions to allow the people of Provinces 1, 5 and 7 to exercise their right to vote, peacefully, in Nepal‘s second round of local elections on 28 June. We urge the security forces to exercise restraint and comply with existing national international standards when carrying out their duties.

“We urge all parties to continue to work to create the conditions for peaceful, inclusive, broadly-supported and credible local elections in Province 2 to complete the local election process.”

 “We remain committed to working with all stakeholders for a peaceful, inclusive, broadly-supported and credible election process,” said a press release issued by British Embassy, Kathmandu.
