The British Embassy welcomes the completion of the second phase of local elections in Nepal.
“We urge progress from all stakeholders to create the necessary conditions to ensure that the people of province two are also given the opportunity to exercise their democratic right to elect local representation, on 18 September.
“We encourage unfettered international election observation to be authorized for the final phase of the polls, to enable the international community, including accredited diplomats, to observe,“ said a press release issued by British Embassy Kathmandu.
The British Embassy strongly urges any protests to be undertaken peacefully and that the security forces act with restraint. The British Embassy remains committed to working with all stakeholders for an inclusive, peaceful and broadly-supported election process.
