After a successful proving flight on June 19, 2017, Lhasa based Tibet Airlines started its direct flight service. Its first flight landed on August 8, 2017on Chengdu –Kathmandu-Chengdu sector.

The inaugural flight departed from Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport at and touched down at Tribhuvan International Airport(TIA).

According to a press release issued by The Himalaya Airlines, with the launch of 4 flights per week, every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, the airline operates its Airbus 319 on the route, featuring a comfortable two class cabin, seating 128 passengers with 8 in business class and 120 in economy, providing passengers with more legroom and fresh look in cabin.

The airline has appointed Himalaya Airlines Pvt. Ltd. as its General Sales Agent (GSA) for passenger and cargo movement to take care of reservations and ticketing in Nepal.

Tibet Airlines is an airline based at Lhasa Gonggar Airport in Tibet, China. The airline commenced its operations on July 26, 2011, and operates scheduled domestic services.
