Update: Twenty People Die In Two Separate Vehicle Accident In Udayapur And Gulmi

A day after a deadly bus accident, twenty people died and dozens other injured in two separate road accident in Udayapur and Gulmi.

A day after a deadly bus accident, twenty people died and dozens other injured in two separate road accident in Udayapur and Gulmi. According to a media report,  nine people died on the spot while two were rescued when a Jeep (Na. 1 Ja. 3404) heading towards Okhaldhunga from Katari of Udayapur met with an accident at Thati of Katari municipality-11 this afternoon.

Similarly, in another accident in Gulmi 8 killed, 6 injured and 2 missing in a micro bus accident.According to the Area Police Office Katari, the jeep fell some 500 meters below the road killing the nine, including its driver Hari Karki. Karki died in course of treatment while an eight-year-old child and a woman were rescued alive by the locals before police arrived, according to chief of the police office Mahendra Kumar Shrestha.

National news agency RSS, reports that efforts are currently being made to extract the bodies of the passengers stuck in the cliff. Initial reports say that the reason behind the accident could be excessive load, as a result of which the jeep could not climb a steep road and came backward instead to fall off a cliff into the river below, police said.

At least 10 persons were killed and six others were injured when a passenger micro bus met with an accident at Birbas of Gulmi district this afternoon. Two persons went missing in the incident.

 The identities of the deceased are yet to be established.

All the injured have been taken to a local hospital in Palpa, informed the District Police Office.

Superintendent of Police Anurag Kumar Dwivedi was quoted in the Rastriya Samachar Samiti as saying, “Of the 15 persons on board the micro bus (Ba 4 Kha 5501), two persons including the driver were missing in the incident.”

“The cause of the incident is yet to be known, said police. The vehicle was heading to Tamghas in Gulmi from Butwal. Search and rescue efforts are underway.
