Chinese president Xi Jinping, who is the first Chinese president to visit Nepal in 23 years, spent 23 hours and issued a 20-point joint statement before returning home. As in the past, the leaders of the two countries have repeated their words relating to historic and cultural ties as well as respect to sovereignty and connectivity through Himalayas. However, Chinese President Xi has also repeated security of Tibet. For this, Nepali leaders have firmly repeated their commitments to one China policy and not allowing Nepal’s soil to be used against China. This shows the limitations of Nepal and China in their relations.
