Unified Communist Party of Nepal Maoist leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda demanded to halt the counting of the elections. As UCPN-Maoist is trailing behind in the elections held on November 19, Dahal said in a hastily organized press conference that there were incidents of rampant fraud and rigging in the elections.
Prachanda called a press conference following UCPN-Maoist faced humiliating defeating in the elections. He himself lost an election from Kathmandu constituency no 10 with much younger Nepali Congress candidates Rajan K.C.
Soon after the counting began, Nepali Congress and CPN-UML led the tally and UCPN-Maoist candidates defeated badly. In the last elections, UCPN-UML virtually dominated the elections wining 120 direct seats of out of 240.
“Our party will boycott all elections activities and Constituent Assembly,” thundered Prachanda. He threatened to launch the agitation if political parties do not hear them. “There is national and international conspiracy against our party’s debacle.”
